My Salesforce career transformation: A progress report after just over a year

Academy12 February 2025

Career change is often seen as a colossal challenge, a risky adventure, but also as a chance to redefine one’s career path. After seven years spent in the field of audit and management control, I decided to embark on the world of Salesforce, and more specifically in the world of Revenue Cloud. A little over a year after this turning point, it is time to take stock of this bold transition.

Audit and management control offered me many opportunities. I have developed strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial processes. But after discovering the Salesforce ecosystem through an internal CPQ/Billing integration project, I wanted to move towards this field of activity. I wanted not only to acquire new technical skills, but also to actively participate in the digital transformation of companies.

Training: a decisive step

Once the desire for a career change within the Salesforce ecosystem was confirmed, the natural choice is to turn to appropriate training before joining a new company. This training allows you to familiarize yourself with the Salesforce environment, the different clouds and prepare for the first Salesforce certifications.

But not choosing the classic path, I directly plunged into the deep end and joined 2PACE as a Revenue Cloud consultant. Good or bad idea?

The challenge was significant. Moving from an environment focused on figures and financial analysis to a world of software and customer relationship management required a significant adjustment. But the motivation was strong, and the opportunity to join a dynamic and growing company only increased it.

The first months: intensive learning

By landing a Salesforce consultant position, I realized that the real learning was just beginning. Each project was a new challenge, each client had unique needs. I was immersed in Salesforce customization, project management and user training.

This first contact with the professional world of Salesforce was both rewarding and intimidating. I had to adapt quickly to the tools and working methods, while continuing to develop my technical skills. Thanks to the support of my more experienced colleagues and a culture of mutual aid within the team, I managed to overcome these obstacles.

State of play one year later

Today, a year after the start of my career change, I take a moment to take stock of this experience. Here are the main lessons I have learned:

  1. A renewed passion for work

Working with Salesforce allowed me to rediscover the pleasure of learning and innovating. Every day, I discover new features, new approaches and creative solutions to clients’ problems. My work is now more dynamic and varied, which contributes to my professional satisfaction.

  1. The value of previous experience is not negligible

My background in audit and management control proved to be a valuable asset. Despite the lack of technical skills at my beginnings, my skills in data analysis, understanding of business processes allowed me to bring a unique perspective to projects quickly. I can thus effectively discuss with clients on their strategic issues and share these points of attention with my colleagues with more technical profiles.

  1. The importance of continuous training

The Salesforce ecosystem is evolving rapidly, and it is essential to stay up-to-date with new features and trends such as AI with the development of Agent Force or the arrival of Revenue Cloud Advanced (RCA), the new Salesforce solution for managing the revenue lifecycle. Working in this field means engaging in a continuous learning process, by following advanced training and obtaining new certifications. This allows me to have my learning recognized on the market and to meet the growing expectations of clients.

  1. Encouraging prospects for evolution

After a year in the Salesforce universe, I am confident about my prospects for evolution within this universe and within 2PACE. Whether in consultant, project manager or even trainer roles, the opportunities are numerous. I am already thinking about my next steps, with the idea of specializing further in certain areas and actively participating in the implementation of (RCA) with our first clients.

Conclusion

My professional retraining in the Salesforce universe has been an enriching adventure, marked by challenges and discoveries. One year after this change, I feel more fulfilled than ever, with constantly evolving skills and a dynamic professional network. This experience has taught me that passion and the willingness to learn are powerful drivers for a successful retraining. If you are considering a similar transition, know that every step forward brings you closer to your goal. Never underestimate your ability to evolve and adapt. The world of work is constantly changing, and it is never too late to reinvent yourself.
